Fountains & ponds
Fountains & ponds.
There are many applications for the Merus Ring in combating algae: in cooling towers and cooling circuits, but also in fountains, lakes and (ornamental) ponds.
Algae are plant-like organisms that thrive under certain conditions, particularly in standing water. In the worst case for a pond owner, they can grow so vigorously that they displace other plants and organisms.
Algae are found not only in pools, ponds and lakes, but also in the sea and even in wastewater. Green algae in wastewater and in the sea are attributed to over-fertilization.
Algae also grow in technical applications, such as open cooling circuits or cooling towers. Especially in warmer parts of the world, a cooling tower can quickly become heavily infested with algae. If action is not taken in time, the algae spread rapidly throughout the circuit and cause the widely dreaded biofouling.
Merus Bio against algae deposits and biofouling
Merus has developed special BIO Rings for these problems. In addition to the Merus oscillations against limescale and corrosion, a Merus BIO Ring carries extra Merus oscillations against biological activity in the water. These BIO oscillations reduce algae activity, causing the algae to reproduce more slowly and die more quickly.
Before a Merus installation, such stubborn algae deposits could only be removed with considerable manual effort. After installation, the algae quickly turn brown because they have died. They are either carried away by the water or simply fall to the bottom.
The photographs document the installation described; the findings are those reported in the original MERUS case study. Source page: merus.de/springbrunnen-teiche
