“Viva con Agua” means “living with water”. The expression describes a goal that should have been the norm for everyone long ago. At Merus, we live with water and from water, in two senses. In our private lives, we use and consume water like everyone else. As a company, we provide sustainable water treatment, make water usable and thereby also help save water and energy.
Viva con Agua is a nonprofit association based in Sankt Pauli. It was founded by former players from the FC St. Pauli community. The football club remains one of its main sponsors. The association has set itself the noble goal of giving people everywhere access to clean drinking water. It carries out projects in poorer regions of the world, such as drilling wells and providing education about water. The association is financed by donations. We particularly like its approach of involving young people here at home so that it has a local presence at schools, events and concerts, for example to collect donated cup deposits and to promote the idea and the association.
Merus as a sponsor in its anniversary year and beyond
Merus has been active in water treatment since 1996. When we travel around the world, we see the difficulties some people face in finding enough water for people and animals. We also see how important it is to educate people about water and related hygiene. We wanted to do something, and this led us to Viva con Agua. To mark our 20th anniversary, we provided financial support to Viva con Agua. We expect to be able to keep doing so, so that Viva Con Agua can continue its work, because there is still a great deal to do.
We are now celebrating our 25th anniversary, and we are still supporting Viva con Agua. Despite all the efforts, the problems have not become fewer or smaller.
