German Water Partnership – Merus GmbH
Languages: English, German, French, Spanish
German Water Partnership e. V. is an organization supporting German companies in the water sector. The association is based in Berlin. Its aim is to support German companies in their international activities through a wide range of initiatives. German water-technology manufacturers are brought together to exchange experience and coordinate activities or projects. German Water Partnership organizes trade-fair appearances abroad on their behalf. This allows members to gain experience in new markets without maintaining their own expensive exhibition stand.
Merus and German Water Partnership
As part of our cooperation with German Water Partnership, Merus took part in a trip to California. With the help of the German embassy and the German American Chamber of Commerce, contacts were established in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Discussions with local water suppliers provided direct information about the challenges posed by the drought in California. Short- and long-term measures were discussed together with the German companies. Los Angeles is currently relying on restrictions against wasting water, such as car washing and lawn care. High fines ensure compliance with the rules. As a result, dried-out front gardens and brown lawns were shown in media around the world. Local experience also shows, however, that these restrictions are often ignored, particularly in wealthier areas.
Who benefits from the cooperation?
The cooperation enables an exchange of ideas and knowledge so that existing German expertise can be used worldwide. This gives us at Merus information about new challenges in industrial water treatment and allows us to develop new areas of activity. The long-term goal would be to break the vicious circle of water polluted by chemicals, intensive chemical water treatment, and the further pollution that results. In this way, Merus provides solutions worldwide.
