Together against plastic

Class 7l of Carl-Bechstein-Gymnasium in Erkner wins the “Schools for Future” competition. Three schoolgirls, three formats and one goal: reducing plastic waste. To this end, the group created an animated video. A short written report and an Instagram account (@officialllessplastics) round off their entry.

In the animated video, the virtual character Lisa shows us all the places where plastic waste can be found. Whether on beaches, in forests or beside lakes, plastic waste is everywhere. One consequence is the danger posed by microplastics. Because more than 80 million metric tons of plastic waste lie on the seabed, this has health consequences for the environment, people and animals. The girls back up these facts with fitting and shocking images.

To show how plastic waste can be avoided, the group launched a 5-day challenge. The challenges include plastic-free shopping and running a household without using plastic. Because the issue of microplastics matters so much to the students, they show, for example, how to make your own cleaning products. Another very positive point is that the entries are written in both German and English.

To make as many people as possible aware of the issue, the girls set themselves the goal of reaching different target groups through their online campaign. Tagging and linking increase their visibility and reach.
