Do you want to make a change?
Students from year 13 at Berufliche Oberschule Erlangen took second place in the “Schools for Future” competition. Although the class was preparing for its Abitur exams, it produced a very well-structured Instagram entry. The design and choice of colors are right on trend. See for yourself on their Instagram account (@doyouwanttomakeachange).
The group presents the problem of climate change and possible solutions. They devised various categories, such as “Zero Waste” and “First World Problems”. Each topic includes several images and informative texts, as well as suggestions for alternatives and solutions. The students do more than post simple pictures with a little text underneath. The information is presented attractively. To keep things interesting, almost every entry has a different design. The page includes, for example, a letter to climate change, videos and even a poetry slam. With humor and texts tailored to the younger generation, the students make sure you read their posts right to the end. We noticed that our Managing Director has been living out some of these suggestions for a long time. You can read about this in his article My roots of sustainability.
Our verdict
The students examined CO2 emissions in various areas. They incorporated their knowledge and proposed solutions into their entries extremely well, demonstrating their media literacy. Their appeal to society to help the environment and do something good is clear and unmistakable.
