Merus signs the WIN Charta for greater sustainability

Languages: English, German, French, Spanish

Sustainability, climate awareness and environmental protection are topics we encounter constantly in everyday life. Now, since the Constitutional Court's ruling, governments have been focusing more closely on these topics. To address sustainability beyond our own walls, we have signed the WIN Charta N! Strategy. Together with many other companies from Baden-Württemberg, we set out here which measures we have already implemented and which goals we still want to achieve.

02 / WIN Charta

WIN Charta

For today's society, it is not only important that private households live sustainably and make their consumption more climate-neutral. The way businesses and companies operate and act is also becoming increasingly important. The sustainability strategy of the state of Baden-Württemberg serves as a guide and reference for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The WIN Charta was developed so that companies can commit to sustainable business practices. It forms part of the state government's 2016-2021 coalition agreement. It meets the requirements of EU Directive 2014/95/EU (CSR Directive). CSR stands for Corporate Social Responsibility.

The initiative aims to bring together the experience and knowledge of companies that already operate sustainably, so that others can benefit from it. Because many businesses do not know where best to start or exactly what matters, the WIN Charta offers twelve guiding principles. These cover a broad range of areas. The focus is not limited to resources and energy, but also includes topics such as anti-corruption, innovation and employee well-being. To prevent the project from “falling asleep”, companies are encouraged to update their report every year. They should report which goals have already been achieved and which new goals have been added.

03 / Why Merus signed

Why Merus signed

By signing, Merus documents its economic, environmental and social responsibility. Our Managing Director and the rest of our employees were brought up to value sustainability. We bring this way of life into our everyday business and want to share it with our customers too. We identify with the WIN Charta's various subjects and values, so we did not have to think long about signing the document.

Because climate change and climate protection are becoming increasingly important, while many people are unaware of the scale of the problem, we want to use the WIN Charta to make at least a small contribution and draw attention to the issue. The entire Merus team reflected on and discussed the individual guiding principles. This enabled us to develop and prepare a suitable set of objectives.

04 / What drives us

What drives us

Sustainable and respectful conduct is central to everything we do. We therefore selected the principles addressing resources, energy and emissions, and product responsibility as the first goals in our plan. We have been working toward these objectives for several years and want to continue improving and expanding them. We laid the foundation 25 years ago: our Merus Ring is, and always has been, a sustainable product. We must now continue adapting all other aspects of our business to achieve our goal of operating sustainably and in a climate-neutral way.
